“I called up Nate for a photoshoot and he was a complete professional and very courteous. We went over what I was looking for and what type of outfits ill be wearing. Personality & Angles

Headshot Photography

A headshot portrait is a photograph of your face that usually includes shoulders. You can use the photo as a profile picture, a professional LinkedIn photo, a headshot to submit to agencies, etc. Headshots are very versatile and can range from professional to personal uses. For the most part, however, headshots are usually used in a professional context.

The headshot is taken from different angles and usually includes one person in which he/she is the main subject of the photo. Some important questions to keep in mind that I will ask to ensure I capture the best headshots are: Will you use these photos for branding? What would you like to be your backdrop? What part of your personality do you want reflected in your headshots? Are there specific poses you are looking for, or do you want more natural shots?

“Working with Nate has been and is always an absolute pleasure! Professional, very talented and has an amazing vision. Always makes sure a client is happy and has very quick turnaround with editing. Highly recommend!”

Comfortable And Relaxed

Headshot Photography Posing

Knowing what you are looking for in your headshot portrait and capturing that vision is very important to me. If you need a professional headshot for your career, it can be stressful. My job is to make you feel secure and comfortable during our session while capturing the headshots you envisioned. One of the ways this is done, is through posing.

Depending on what you prefer, the posing can be guided or more on the natural side. Since many clients tend to get camera-shy, they usually opt for some guided posing. I will guide you on how to pose your facial expression, eyes, back posture, chin, body, hands, and arms. My posing is more of a guidance and not a “hold and stay there” kind of posing that produces “stiff” pictures. I strive to create natural-looking photos even with posing guidance.

Nate is a class act. I did a lifestyle photoshoot with Nate and was extremely pleased with how the photos came out. He was very flexible and knowledgeable during the shoot. I personally rely on a few specific poses for my shoots, so I was particularly impressed at the numerous additional poses he knew would read well on camera. Highly recommend!

Varied

Headshot Photography Locations

When it comes to headshot photography, the location can vary depending on the look you are going for. If you are going for more of a professional headshot then the background could include a clean background, while a more relaxed style of headshot could include a more colorful or environmental background.

I will identify your goals during the pre-consultation session to determine what background will be best to convey the message you are trying to send with the headshots. You just tell me the look you are going for and I will research the best background to capture your ideal headshot — and if you already have a background in mind, even better!

Super happy with Nate’s high quality photos! He has very creative concepts, is a pleasure to shoot with, and I highly recommend to anyone.”

A Fine Line…Literally

Headshot Retouching

Retouching headshots is a very important part of a successful headshot that is often overlooked or not even mentioned. There is a fine line when it comes to good retouching and bad retouching. You want the photo to still look natural while removing unnecessary marks or blemishes. Many retouchers over edit the headshot where the subject could end up looking like a porcelain doll.

Having taken many retouching courses and editing my photos using state of the art software such as Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop, I make it a point to retouch the photo while making it remain natural. Since a photograph captures a specific moment of time, we often do not take the time to freeze and investigate the details in one’s face like we do in a headshot photograph.

As a result, sometimes details in a headshot portrait can be discovered that we can be sensitive to. Since this happens, small changes such as softening or lightening under the eyes, retouching unwanted blemishes or unwanted marks, and softly reducing smile lines can make a big positive impact on a headshot.
